Perspectives on Policy Proposals for Teacher Retention
We are part of the Teach Plus 2021-22 Cohort, a teacher fellowship that seeks to highlight teacher voices. Teacher Diversity is an issue that hurts students, teachers and educator effectiveness in the State of California. As teachers with 38 years of combined teaching experience, across different subjects and levels, we have the unique ability to provide meaningful feedback to policy creators, and would like to amplify your voice by participating in our focus groups.

The purpose of the research is to give voice to California teachers. Thus we will be asking you, as a California public and charter school teacher, to share your perspectives with us during a 1 hour focus group. We want to explore the unique sets of problems and workplace conditions that you face, as well as examine how these problems and conditions may uniquely negatively affect teachers of color.

The goal of the research is to collect teacher opinions on policy issues so that more professionals enter the profession and stay in the profession and create actionable legislative and policy changes that policy makers could enact. The data would also be referenced in a policy brief and published. No personal identifying information will be shared and data will be reported in aggregate.
